Community of Luquina

Strategically located on the route to Taquile/Amantani and facing the community of Llachon, it is possible to spend the night in this beautiful spot. Luquina practices ancient customs such as community work, lending (el ayni), barter (trueque) and cultural exchanges. We offer an appropriate setting on the shores of Lake Titicaca to enjoy a buffet lunch comprised of local produce. Ideal for camping and adventure tourism activities such as cycling, kayak, sailing, trekking etc.

In the 16th century the word "Aymara" was used in the Altiplano region to define the inhabitant capable of paying a "normal" contribution or tax, distinguishing them from the "Uro" who, due to his diminished status, was only capable of paying a fraction of his taxes.

It is possible that Aymara is the mysterious "secret language" found when the Incas reached the Titicaca basin region and mentioned in the chronicles of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega (Natural Sanctuaries of Peru, Walter H. Wust).

Community of Llachon

Llachon is a village located facing Luquina on the Capachica peninsula, where families offer tourists board and lodgings in their own typical houses, outings in sailboats, arts and crafts and the chance to share in community activities. Access is by a 90 minute road journey from the city of Puno, or by a 2 hour boat trip in traditional boats or 1 hour in our rapid boat service.

Anapia Island

An island right right on the border with the beautiful country of Bolivia in an archipelago of islands in the minor lake, or Wiñaymarka, which also includes the islands of Suana with a very shallow landing area, Yuspiqui (a vicuña reserve), Suriqui on the Bolivian side, Paco, etc.

The particularity of this location is that it is found very close to Tiahuanaco and in a strategic site to appreciate the grandeur of the Bolivian Andes (or Cordillera Real), which added to the hospitality of the local community gives an optimum enjoyment of lake Titicaca and its natural surroundings.
