| The Peruvian Altiplano (High
Plain) and its great "Taypi" (the centre) of lake
Titicaca, birthplace of great cultures, today keeps alive
esoteric and mystic traditions, traditions which reveal themselves
to those who have genuine interest in them, offering the chance
to get into direct contact with the "Pacha" (Andean
worldview) by visiting ancient manmade temples.
Inca Tunuhuiri
Ancient temple lying close to the
city of Puno which offers an excellent location to visit
and give offerings of thanks and spiritual contact.
ICHU.- Ichu:
Every 29th June, the lake fishermen of the shores and
the islands meet at the village of Ichu to give thanks,
ask the powers for their grace, or simply to enter into
harmony with the "pacha", or Mother Nature.
It is a marvellous pilgrimage spectacle where the sons
return to their palce of birth and put on a most colourful
"fiesta", or party. Ideal for a spiritual
pilgrimage from Puno, a walk that lasts approximately
2 hours. On arrival a ceremony of offerings to the Pachamama

Inka Uyu
Located 18km from the city of Puno,
just off the paved Puno/Copacabana/Desaguadero road.
The Inca Uyu was constructed in the Inca period in the
folds of mount Atoja (Achachila/Apu). An ideal site
for fertility and/or productivity ceremonies, especially
in moonlit nights or special days of the year.
Today, in the centre of the rectangular
structure, are stone phalluses which give the site an
air of greater mystery and recreation. Previously, the
site was a centre for the study solstices and equinoxes,
again accompanied by collective offerings.

Cutimbo
For most of the year the Altiplano
is dry and Cutimbo's placement offers unbeatable views
of the local scenery which seems tinted with gold thanks
to the dried grasses of the plains. The pure air and
location of Cutimbo gives a feel of how a condor would
view the Altiplano, a perfect place to get into contact
with the energies of the pachamama (mother nature) and
anaypacha (the cosmos). |

Ccopa Amaya
Sanctuary located in the western part
of lake Titicaca, on the road to Charcas and Santa Rosa
de Yanaque, nearly in the middle of the lake. A place
for offerings to the Pachamama (mother earth)or Mamacota
(mother water). Its site allows views of the immensity
of the lake as well as nearly all its natural islands
and the local Aymara villages and communities.
Nature and man harmonize perfectly here.
Its strategic location focuses the centre of the lake
with the heights around, with natural sculptures which
have been used as pilgrimage points for millennia waiting

Villca Uta
Found
close to the city of Juli on the road to the Bolivian
border, Villca Uta is an interdismensional portal thousands
of years old. A site for the pilgrims of the New Aurora
who will see the sun's light reflected in the doorway
as part of the pathway of light. Retreats also offered.

Ticonata Island
A small island with easy access
found just off the island of Amantani. The island is
reached by travelling overland to Capachica, then on
to the nearby village of Ccotos, where a sailboat ride
takes you to the island and its nearly abandoned temples
where mystic private ceremonies can be performed. It
is possible to organize all this with the local communities
who will also offer food and lodgings. |

Soto Island
A nature sanctuary perfect for
offerings to lake Titicaca and a point of contact with
your own interior temple. A sacred site for ceremonies
of the highest spiritual order. It takes time to get
to this island and it is necessary to sail or travel
by road to the northern part of lake Titicaca. En route
a stopover at the nearby island of Suasi is possible,
an island with hostals and lodgings.

Achachila Kapia
A natural temple found close to the
minor lake and the town of Yunguyo on the Bolivian border.
This is a special pilgrimage only suitable for the physically
fit. In the upper part of Kapia there is a beautiful
small bluewater lake used for specific rituals. Today,
thanks to its location and isolation, Kapia is a centre
for channeling strong lake energies. A well organized
visit is ideal, thus arrangements should be made well
in advance.
A focal point of energies of fertility
and abundance that should be carefully controlled. On
10th October each year the site celebrates its patron
saint, San Francisco de Borja, on which day devotees
from all social, economic cultural and national backgrounds
gather.

Pacha Tata y Pacha Mama
Located on the island of Amantani,
these temples represent the duality and balance of life.
They are ceremonial centres used for pilgrimages and
spiritual retreats for large groups..

The island's toad-like shape
symbolizes material and spiritual wealth, giving balance
to the individual and offering organized visits to overcome
emotional problems, bring harmony, encounter the I interior
and bring balance to the body's energies.
Tihuanaco
Found on Bolivian soil, it is
possible to visit Tihuanaco as part of a "Full
Day" tour. A sacred site that will reaffirm anyone
on a spiritual or mystic path, a most famous site and
important for both Bolivia and Peru.
The pyramid of Calasaya, the
monoliths and the Gateway of the Sun make up one of
the most powerful altars in the Titicaca region.
